About Me

I grew up, and still live, in South London, and for as long as I can remember I have been creative; I can remember doing all sorts of crafts as a child, knitting, sewing, quilling, weaving, drawing, painting...
Art has always been a passion of mine and over the last 12 years, since leaving school, I have spent most of my time either studying or working in creative environments. I remember briefly giving up studying art at the age of 17, because it was ‘too hard’ and I was sick of it - I think I only lasted a few weeks before I was frustrated and miserable! I finally finished my degree earlier this year and it was on this course that I really discovered my personal style and the way I love to work. It also meant I became much more aware of the variety of ways paper can be used with within the creative industry. At the moment I am just trying to do what I love and follow my passion for papercraft.
I read so many blogs online and so I thought it would be a good idea to start my own; I have always enjoyed writing and I thought it would be a good way of keeping me motivated and showing the progress I will (hopefully!) make in my career.
Tales from my Cutting Mat will be the story of my journey and I hope you like my work and enjoy reading about my progress.

Gem x
